Video Glasses
I just saw a new model of video glasses for $300. http://www.audiocubes.com/product/Mikimoto-Beans_i-Theater_Video_Glasses.html They're designed to create the effect of a 50" TV when you're watching them. There's also a lower cost and much lower resolution model: http://www.videomagi.com/vmagix1.php . Sony used to make a very expensive pair, called Glasstrons, that were going for $1,000 several years ago at the SonyStyle store in downtown SF.
The price point has predictably come down, although I wonder how the technology is. It seems like these wouldn't be too bad for occasional movie watching, but regular use can't be easy on the eyes. Our eyes weren't meant to be used with a fixed focal length for extended periods of time. (This is clearly a problem with computer usage.) I still kinda want a pair, though.
If money is no object, you can also check out: http://www.vrealities.com/hmd.html There are lots of great toys there!
